We're Growing
New and Improved
As part of Jersey Shore University Medical Center's ongoing $300 million transformation, K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital has received several upgrades. These upgrades help illustrate our commitment to providing comprehensive pediatric care for those in Monmouth and Ocean counties.
Upgrades include a teen lounge, three additional pediatric rooms, and a satellite nursing station. Existing rooms will have fresh paint, new furniture, as well as more family-friendly features, such as flat-screen televisions. Our pediatric unit now has 31 beds dedicated to children's care plus an additional dedicated six bed pediatric intensive care unit.
An Emergency Department Just For Kids
Kids aren't just little adults -- they need specialized care when they are visiting an Emergency Department (ED). That's why we're opening an ED just for them!
In July, we plan to open a dedicated pediatric emergency department next to the Jersey Shore University Medical Center ED. The new space will have a separate entrance/triage area and 10 to 12 pediatric beds.
Need for this ED space has grown as more and more pediatric patients seek us out. We receive more than 600 pediatric patient transports from other area medical centers each year. When factoring in the multitude of pediatric subspecialists that we have available and our increased focus on pediatric surgery, the number of visitors to our ED is expected to rise. The new ED will help us provide easier access to our expert care.
