Honors and Recognition

Alan Cabassso, M.D. was named one of 'America's Top Pediatricians' in The Guide to America's Top Pediatricians, compiled by Consumers' Research Council of America

The Diabetes Education Program, part of the Pediatric Diabetes Center, was recognized by the American Diabetes Association for meeting the national standards for excellence. The site visit for this three-year recognition was conducted in August 2007

Michael Graff, M.D., JSUMC Director of Neonatology and the NJ American Academy of Pediatrics "Chapter Champion" for the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) program, is featured in the UMDNJ Center for Continuing and Outreach Education's online course on newborn screening. The EHDI portion of the program is a videotaped lecture with slides by Dr. Graff

Steven Kairys, M.D., was named the Chair of the Quality Committee of the New Jersey Council of Teaching Hospitals. The Council includes the ten acute care and long-term children's hospitals in the state. This committee is developing a statewide dashboard for pediatric quality

Steven Kairys, M.D., was honored as a finalist in the NJBIZ Healthcare Hero Awards – Education Hero category as the awards ceremony on June 23 for his work to improve clinical education to community-based pediatricians as a leader of the NJ AAP Pediatric Council on Research and Education (PCORE)

Steven Kairys, M.D., received the Achievement Award for Quality Improvement from the American Academy of Pediatrics in September 2008

Roopal Karia, M.D., was recognized for her participation in the NICHQ Epilepsy Registry Pilot Project in Boston ( February 2008)

Cynthia Meyers-Seifer, M.D. was named one of 'America's Top Pediatricians' in The Guide to America's Top Pediatricians, compiled by Consumers' Research Council of America, Fifth Edition

Cynthia Meyers-Seifer, M.D., pediatric endocrinologist, was named as one of the Top Doctors: New York Metro Area by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a healthcare research and information company that helps consumers find America's top doctors and top hospitals

Srividya Naganathan, M.D., was awarded "Attending of the Year," by the pediatric residents

James Petrucci, M.D., Pediatric Third-Year Resident, was awarded first prize of his study, "Pre-Discharge Transcutaneous Bilirubin (TCB) in the Prediction of Neonatal Re-Admission Due to Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia." This is the second consecutive year that a pediatric resident has won first prize at JSUMC Research Day

Saad Saad, M.D. and C. Bialowas, M.D., First Place Award for "Delayed Versus Immediate Appendectomy in Children with Acute Appendicitis: Experience with 516 Patients at a Community Hospital" at the American College of Surgeons, December 2008

Rajesh Sachdeo, M.D., won the Pierskalla Best Paper Award, for novel optimization models for the abnormal brain, at the annual Fall INFORMDS Conference

Paul Schwartzberg, D.O., was named one of 'America's Top Pediatricians' in The Guide to America's Top Pediatricians, compiled by Consumers' Research Council of America

Paul Schwartzberg, D.O., was named Mentor of the Year 2008

Azam Soroush, M.D., was named one of 'America's Top Pediatricians' as well as one of 'America's Top Pediatric Gastroenterologists' in The Guide to America's Top Pediatricians, compiled by Consumers' Research Council of America
