Food & Beverage

Patient Food Service
Children's meal trays are served each day at approximately 7:30 a.m., 12:00 noon and 5:00 p.m. Each morning, the dietary hostess will bring your child's menu around for meal selection for that day. Additionally, you may receive one guest tray (entrée of the day) for yourself at mealtime, which will arrive with your child's tray.

Jersey Shore Grille & Deli
Located in Brennan Pavilion, the Grille offers hot and cold sandwiches, desserts, and a variety of deli and breakfast items. Open Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and holidays from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Atrium Cafe
Located in the Atrium of the Northwest Pavilion lobby. Open seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Booker Health Sciences Library

Located on the first floor of the Booker Pavilion, the Booker Health Sciences Library is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The library is open to all patients and their family members to assist you in learning more about specific health conditions, treatment options, and research. The library also offers 13 computers with internet and medical database access, a self-service photocopier at no charge, and a small collection of general fiction books that can be loaned to your during your child's stay.

Chapel

The Young Chapel, located in the Booker Pavilion across from the Library, also serves as a meditation room.  It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to patients, visitors and hospital staff.  Additionally, our Pastoral Care Department identifies and responds to the spiritual needs of our patients, their families, and staff. 

To request a visit from the chaplain or another member of the Pastoral Care team, ask your nurse to page Pastoral Care.

Gift Shop

Located near the main entrance of the Northwest Pavilion, our gift shop offers a wide variety of flowers & gifts to brighten patient's stays. Long distance well-wishers and those unable to leave their rooms are invited to use the Gift Shop's delivery service by dialing 732-776-4215, to have the purchase directly to the patient's room – with no delivery charge.  

The Gift Shop is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Kitchen

The hospital's pediatric unit contains a kitchen that is available for use of our patients and their families. A microwave, ice machine with filtered water, coffee maker, and refrigerator are available. It is requested that all food stored in the refrigerator be labeled and dated. We also offer a selection of light snacks (dry cereal, crackers, peanut butter, etc.), milk and juices. Formula can be obtained from your nurse.

Patient Entertainment Centers

TV's are available free of charge 24 hours a day and feature several premium channels appropriate for our pediatric patients. Each TV has an attached DVD player, and the DVD channel is 3.  We offer a variety of DVDs that may be borrowed from the Nurses' Station or the playroom, and encourage you to bring in age-appropriate DVDs from home.

Pharmacy

Conveniently located in the Brennan Lobby, the Meridian Pharmacy is available to patients to fill any necessary prescriptions before they even leave the hospital's doors. The Meridian Pharmacy accepts most prescription plans, and payment can be made by cash, check, or credit card. The Pharmacy — open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. — also offers two dedicated parking spaces right in front of the hospital's main entrance.

Playroom

The hospital's playroom is located on the right side of the hall as you enter the pediatric department. Hours of operation are posted on the door. A Recreation Therapist is on duty Monday through Friday for Pediatric patients and for patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The therapist can provide toys and games to your child in his/her room during off-hours.

Sleeping Accommodations for Parents

We can provide in-room sleeping accommodations for one parent/grandparent/guardian who wish to stay with a child overnight. A sleep chair is by each bedside for this purpose. Cots may be opened at 8:00 p.m. and should be closed by 8:00 a.m. Additionally, parents are permitted to utilize the shower room located on the unit. Linens are available from the cart in front of the Nurses' Station.

Telephones

Phones are available in most patient rooms.  You can receive incoming phone calls from outside the hospital and dial in-house hospital extensions free of charge.  Additionally, local telephone service is complementary. To make a local call, dial "9" plus the phone number, including area code. For toll calls, you must use a pre-paid or other type of phone card, or call collect. The Brennan Lobby Gift Shop sells phone cards. An instruction sheet for using the phone and list of local numbers are in each patient room.        

Cellular Phones: We make every effort to maintain a quiet and calm environment to assist in our patients' recovery, and we are committed to patient safety.  Therefore, we ask that all visitors please refrain from using cellular phones in patient rooms, elevators, and any other areas that might disrupt others or interfere with medical equipment.  Kindly keep cellular phone usage limited to our lobbies, waiting areas, meeting rooms, courtyards, and outside the Medical Center.

WiFi / Internet Access

WiFi is available throughout the Medical Center, and guests are able to access this service via a personal computer.  Please note this is a public wireless access system and should not be used to transmit or access secure information.  In addition, you will find certain Web sites are blocked by the Medical Center for policy reasons.
