Support Services
Any hospital experience is usually stressful and overwhelming, but when it's your child…it is even more so.
In the effort to support our patients, their families and caregivers, K.Hovnanian Children's Hospital offers a variety of support services during your stay.
Hospital Tours
K.Hovnanian Children's Hospital offers special tours for parents and children to help prepare them for their hospital experience. These tours allow children to see the facility in a friendly, age-appropriate way. The tour also provides your child the opportunity to ask questions about their experience. Appointments for these tours are required. To schedule a hospital tour for your child, please call 732-776-4600.
Pastoral Care
Our pastoral care department identifies and responds to the spiritual needs of our patients, their families, and the Medical Center staff. To receive a visit from the chaplain or another member of the Pastoral Care team, please ask your nurse to page Pastoral Care.
Patient Representatives
Our patient representatives are here to help you during your child's stay. They are happy to answer your questions, address any concerns you may have, and act on your behalf. They can also assist you with notary public services, directions, taxi services, and hotel arrangements.
You can reach our Patient Relations Department Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you have a question any other time, please leave a message on the department's voice mail, and a staff member will contact you. If you require immediate assistance, dial "0" for the operator, who will put you in touch with the appropriate person.
Social Work / Case Management / Utilization Review
Our personnel are available to assist you and your family throughout your child's hospital stay, providing discharge planning services, referrals to community services, and counseling.
Volunteers
Our volunteers make up a vital part to our health care team. Through their donation of time and services, they fill an important role in the Medical Center and the community by helping us deliver high-quality medical care. Volunteers work in nearly every area of the Medical Center, including patient care areas. They assist nurses and provide personal services for patients, including reading, letter writing, and delivering books, newspapers, and other items. They are also available to run hospital errands for patients and their guests.
Web sites through CaringBridge.org
CaringBridge is a free service that allows individuals to create a personal website that helps keep loved ones informed during the difficult times of having a sick child. Friends and family, from near and far, are able to provide support through their guestbook messages.
Every free, personalized CaringBridge website includes a patient care journal to update family and friends, a guestbook for messages of love, an online photo gallery, and free online support for using the service.
