Meridian Health Welcomes Richard J. Scott, M.D., To Clinical Effectiveness Leadership Position

 

Neptune, NJ -  Meridian Health has announced the appointment of Richard J. Scott, M.D., as senior vice president of Clinical Effectiveness and Medical Affairs for Meridian Health, which includes Jersey Shore University Medical Center and K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital in Neptune, Ocean Medical Center in Brick, and Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank.

In his role, Dr. Scott will serve as the key physician leader for Meridian Health, overseeing clinical quality and service excellence, in collaboration with Meridian’s senior leadership team and medical staffs. Board certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Scott brings over 27 years of experience in the medical field, previously serving as vice president of Clinical Effectiveness and Medical Affairs at Riverview Medical Center. Prior to joining the hospital administration, Dr. Scott was in private practice and served as president of the medical staff at Riverview Medical Center.

“As a former president of the Medical Staff and orthopedic surgeon at Riverview Medical Center for almost 20 years, I am extremely proud of the level of patient care our physicians and facilities provide, and am very much looking forward to this new opportunity to serve our patients,” says Dr. Scott. “Through successful collaboration with the medical staff, Meridian has established itself as a statewide and national leader in quality clinical measures. Dr. Scott is a member of several medical professional organizations including the Medical Society of New Jersey Board of Trustees, where he served as president from 2007-2008, the Monmouth County Medical Society, and the American Medical Association. He has also contributed to numerous orthopedic publications and research studies.

Dr. Scott received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University; earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania; and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
