Jersey Shore University Medical Center to Host Community Day and 5K Run/Walk on September 19

 

Neptune, NJ - Jersey Shore University Medical Center will hold its first Community Day and 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, September 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This free event will be held at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, located at 1948 Route 33, in Neptune.

The day will kick off with a 5K Run/Walk that starts at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and loops through Neptune.  There will be awards for age group winners and the overall male and female winner will receive an iPod touch.  Registration and check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and will be located at the main entrance to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. If you register before September 3, the fee is $20 and $25 there after.  You can register online or find registration forms by visiting www.JerseyShoreUniversityMedicalCenter.com/5krace.  The first 200 registrants will receive a long sleeved t-shirt with the proceeds to go to the Jersey Shore University Medical Center and K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital.

Additionally, there will be free Kids Races for children between the ages of 3 and 12 starting at 11:00 a.m. at the main entrance of the hospital.  Registration can be obtained the day of the event.  Following the races there will be an awards ceremony, along with a plethora of fun and healthy activities for all ages.  There will be games, an inflatable play area, tattoos, trackless train rides, food, music and more!  Additionally, Doctor Bernard, the friendly mascot and director of Fun and Good Health at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital, will be making a special appearance for the children’s health fair.  Health information and free screenings will be available and include blood pressure, BMI, cholesterol, stroke, and bone density.
