Jane H. Booker Family Health Center at Jersey Shore University Medical Center Holds Successful Community Day

Neptune, NJ - On June 24, the Jane H. Booker Family Health Center at Jersey Shore University Medical Center hosted a Community Day that was free and open to the public.  Despite some rain the event proved to be very successful with over 200 kids and adults attending.

"Community Day allows us an opportunity to raise awareness within the community on the many services we provide at the Family Health Center," said Diane Resnick, RN, nurse manager of Jane H. Booker Family Health Center at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.  "Through the screenings and information we provided, guests gained access to resources that are available to the community on a town, state and national level."

Throughout the day the Meridian Health Community Outreach Department provided  free health screenings to anyone that was interested.  The screenings included blood pressure, glucose levels, total cholesterol, pulse, asthma, body mass index, stroke risk, and HIV.  Health information on asthma and nutrition was also available to guests of all ages.

Hopscotch, a member of the Pawsitive Action Team, interacted with children throughout the event promoting fitness and good health.  Fun activities such as face painting and sea-shell painting were set out for children along with giveaways and large raffle prizes such as kitchenware and children's toys.  Providing music for the event was The Interactive DJ.
