Jersey Shore University Medical Center Hosts 29th Annual Sports Classic Golf Tournament

Neptune, NJ - On July 9, the Jersey Shore University Medical Center Foundation will host its twenty-ninth annual Sports Classic Golf Tournament. The event combines the successful traditions of two great golf outings, the Sports Classic and the Open Heart Invitational, in support of Jersey Shore’s cardiovascular programs. Jersey Shore, part of the Meridian Cardiovascular Network, offers the only cardiac surgery program in Monmouth and Ocean counties and has consistently achieved success rates among the nation’s best.

Due to the outing’s popularity, two private courses – Deal Golf & Country Club and Hollywood Golf Club – will simultaneously host the golfers. The event includes lunch, as well as a cocktail and awards reception. Sponsorships and 50/50 raffle chances are still available.

The reception at Deal Golf & Country Club will feature live and silent auctions, and bidding is already underway for the following: a Bermuda golf trip with first class airfare, golf at the premier island courses and hotel accommodations; foursome packages for Liberty National, Metedeconk National, Deal Golf & Country Club, Mansaquan River Golf Club and Merion (PA) Golf Club; and threesome packages for Baltusrol Golf Club, Hollywood Golf Club, and Spring Lake Country Club. Other items include four tickets for Jersey Boys on Broadway with dinner at The Palms restaurant and limousine transportation; US Tennis Open tickets for the Pepsi Luxury Suite with limousine transportation; a Lakewood BlueClaws Luxury Suite; and a New Jersey Devils Luxury Suite.

The event committee is led by co-chairs Peter Cancro, founder and owner of Jersey Mike’s Subs and Terry McCarty of TD Bank. This year’s event sponsor is the Atrium Café, and the Shirt Sponsor is Brooks Brothers. Last year’s event raised over $250,000 in support of lifesaving programs at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
