NICU Expansion Facility
Jersey Shore University Medical Center and K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital are proud to announce the expansion of our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
The newly expanded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital includes a wing dedicated to premature babies, as well as a dedicated maternity unit for high-risk pregnancies needing the highest level of prenatal and postpartum care.
This 8,168 square-foot facility includes nine high-tech private rooms and two twin rooms, altogether enabling a total of thirteen babies to be treated at a time. Each private room is equipped with state-of-the-art GE Giraffe Omnibeds, along with breastfeeding pumps, breast milk warmers and updated computers and scanners allowing nurses to be with the family more and provide more coaching and personalized care. This emphasis on patient privacy provides better bonding between mother and child while also providing reassurance as mom begins to take care of her newborn.
The facility will also include NICView technology, which provides family members around the world the ability to stream live video of baby's progress via a secure online portal. This feature is helpful when mom is still in the maternity unit or ICU, or if she is unable to visit due to weather conditions or other emergencies.
Our team of exceptional clinical nurses provides personalized care and coaching for parents to adapt to their lifestyle change. Our team delivers family centered care and support to families in crisis. As we continue to be the preferred provider and grow our Maternity Service, the NICU will create more opportunities for Jersey Shore University Medical Center and K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital.
