About Our Sleep Center
Sleep is an essential part of your growing child’s health. Sleep disturbances or problems are common during infancy and childhood. These problems include having trouble getting your child to bed, nightmares and night terrors. Studies show that children with sleep disorders are more likely to have behavioral issues but proper treatment can lead to significant improvement in school performance and overall health.
The Sleep Center of Jersey Shore University Medical Center can diagnose and treat your child’s problem. Through careful evaluation, our board-certified experts in sleep care will help your child benefit through a sleep study in our home-like atmosphere where your child can feel relaxed and comfortable.
A sleep study, or polysomnogram is a comprehensive and painless recording of your child’s sleep with the use of sensors easily placed on the surface of their head and skin. The goal for this recording is to track brain and body activity. This includes your child’s sleep patterns from disrupted breathing, snoring, leg movements, heart rhythm and oxygen levels. While your child is asleep, the nighttime sleep technician will be located in another room constantly monitoring your child throughout the night.
The Sleep Center of Jersey Shore University Medical Center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), indicating compliance with their strict standards for management of sleep disorders.
