Neptune, NJ - A record breaking $110,000 was raised in support of Jersey Shore University Medical Center Cancer Center at The Tenth Anniversary Sweetheart Ball, hosted by the Jersey Shore University Medical Center Foundation. With more than 280 attendees, The Ball was held on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at The Mill at Spring Lake Heights. Chairing the event for her tenth and final year was Mrs. Dana Mencel of Spring Lake. “It is with a very special sense of pride and accomplishment that I complete my tenure as chair of the Sweetheart Ball,” says Mrs. Mencel. “The Jersey Shore University Medical Center Cancer Center is such a beneficial part of our community and I am thrilled with the record breaking success of this year’s event. I am so grateful for the hard work of the committee and am so pleased with the growth and impact of the event has had over the past ten years.” The funds raised at this year’s Sweetheart Ball will help to purchase ultrasound equipment for the Breast Care Center at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Previous monies raised at this event have helped to renovate areas of the cancer center, purchase an endoscopic ultrasound and probe, and to add to the overall continuum of care provided at Cancer Center.
