Child Development

This division offers evaluation and treatment for children with an array of learning, behavioral, emotional, and developmental disabilities, such as attention deficit disorder, language impairments, Tourette's syndrome, and autism. Programs at this center include:

  • Regional Fetal Alcohol Diagnostic Center: part of state-wide initiative to improve early diagnosis and management of children who have been exposed to alcohol in utero

  • Down Syndrome Clinic: provides team consultations and assessments regarding the medical, developmental, behavioral, and educational issues related to Down syndrome

  • Psychiatric assessment: offers consultation with a child psychiatrist to further evaluate emotional and behavioral issues that may co-exist with identified developmental issues

  • Infant/Toddler Assessment Program (ITAP): comprehensive screening for high-risk infants and toddlers from NICU, the foster care system, or primary care physicians; developmental progress is carefully monitored and recommendations are made for therapy
